KICKIN CLOUDS HERE AT VIC

CLOUDCKICKER- Artist of the Week! Theres not much to know about Cloudkicker...because there's not much I could find out, really. It's a one-man band by Ben Sharp. While in no ways new (four previous albums), Cloudkicker certainly takes metal on a new front. Meshuggah-style guitar riffs lay over the forefront as ambient-prog overtones take the music to a whole new level. And one of my favorite things about the album is the price---its free. ]]][[[, the name for the new album, is available at Cloudkicker's website, http://cloudkicker.uk.googlepages.com/, as well as all ove his previous albums, totally free. Which is awesome, because now you can get music from the internet and not even feel bad about it.

In other news, the Danimal just tought me to play Magic the Gathering, so we will be playing a lot of that in the studio in between talk sets. Watch closely on the webcam, and maybe you can learn to play it too!

VALENTINES DAY METAL

THAT'S RIGHT. Valentines Day, 2010. Love. Loss. Spite. METAL. All day (well, 6-9PM) the Total Distortion Machine will be kicking out appropriately themed love songs for all you love-struck metalheads.
On a related note, the three of us have all been considerably love struck by our Artist of the Week, BLACKGUARD. Dan saw them live last year with Ensiferum and Ex Deo. Dan will regale us with some tales of the pit, but overall they pretty much tore the place up in just 25 minutes. This group of six Canadians routinely blasts across the country with it's blend of folk, black, and thrash. Their first full length debut album, Profugus Mortis, is avaliable from Nuclearblast/ Sumerian Records. The track we'll be playing today is "This Round's on Me". Get a look at these cheery Northerners above.
